Viva Frida! Festival on the Esplanade and GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt!

The Frida Festival is a free, family and pet friendly event featuring an art exhibition at Hardy & Nance Studios, and an outdoor festival including art, music, dance and food at the Navigation Esplanade. Enjoy the lively atmosphere with DJ Jason JayCee Colunga and performances by local Houston artists.  The festival will end with our GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt and a group photo.

Get your unibrows ready Houston! East End Studio Gallery and The Greater East End Management District present Viva Frida! XIII Annual Frida Festival on the Esplanade. Come celebrate the life and legacy of one of Latin America’s most important artists, Frida Kahlo by helping us set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ for the largest gathering of people dressed as Frida Kahlo.

Participants must follow all guidelines or they will be disqualified to participate. The costume of each participant must clearly depict Frida Kahlo, which must consist of:

  1. A uni-brow drawn onto the face joining the eyebrows. This can be using make-up or by sticking hair.
  2. Flowers worn in the hair, a minimum of three flowers must be worn.
  3.  A red or pink shawl – plain with no patterns or prints.
  4. A flower printed dress which extends to below the knees on all sides, the dress must not have any splits up the side.
  5. Each participant must wear their own costume and a costume cannot be shared between two people.

Look for the Frida Costume Check-in booth to verify your costume. Your costume will be reviewed and approved before moving to the attempt area. Costumes that are approved will gather at 5:30 for the attempt and will remain in the area for a full 5 minutes. We will do a group picture during the attempt. Please be aware that there may be lines and periods of waiting. All are welcome to participate.

The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt will take place promptly at 5:30PM.
